An update from Menorca

As summer gradually moves into autumn, we’re taking this opportunity to take stock of all the extraordinary events and projects that have taken place during the last few months, despite the difficult and challenging times facing us all.

Part of our work has enabled the Menorca Preservation Fund to become an active member of the Plastic Free Mediterranean Islands coalition. The coalition is an international island initiative aiming to reduce and eliminate the single-use plastic products from the tourism industry and maximise resources and collaborative projects among non-profit organisations working against plastic pollution in the Med. We have already participated in a joint funding proposal with other Conservation Collective funds such as the Cyclades Preservation Fund and the Ibiza & Formentera Preservation Fund and we hope there will be more opportunities to do so in the future.

In addition, the MEPF felt very proud to have been asked to be part of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve Agency’s Social Council, a consultative body of relevant actors in Menorca’s economy and society, created to help support the agency to meet its objectives as a Biosphere Reserve.
