Local Partner: Alianza Mar Blava

A cross-sector platform funded by IbizaPreservation, which aims to protect the Mediterranean Sea from oil and gas exploration. It began in 2013 with a grassroots campaign in Ibiza and Formentera to stop oil and gas prospecting in the waters around the islands and has since then developed into a nation-wide association of 120 entities from across private and public sectors and civil society. Together, its members have succeeded in stopping a dozen projects and having new explorations throughout Spanish waters banned by law. IP continues to sit on the board of the alliance and plays an active role. Mallorca Preservation Foundation and Menorca Preservation have also supported it since 2018 both with funding and cooperation.
